I figured if I'm going to go on a diet, I might as well announce it and set myself a goal to keep myself accountable. In the past, I've been reluctant to tell anyone I was going on a diet because if I failed, then no one would know. Well, the secret is out. I currently weigh 240lbs. I see my ideal weight as 180lbs. I want to lose this by the beginning of the summer of 2010. With your help and support I believe I can. This will be a challenge as I attempt to balance life, school, work, and a possible Africa visit. Yet, this is what staying healthy should be, a totally integration into your normal life busy or not. In addition to my losing the weight, I want to put my money where my mouth is and run a half marathon at the end of June of 2010.
Please pray, respond, offer suggestions, and post your thoughts on healthy living, exercise, and dieting here. Thanks for joining me!

You go!! Positive, affirming thoughts going your way.....
ReplyDeleteI'm on your bandwagon, Bro! And Id love to loose 60 lbs too! (though I think 50 is more my ideal weight). First step (which I saw you were doing) Portions, portions, portions! I always over portion. And then, EAT SLOWLY!! I also eat way too fast. I just recently went to a weight loss meeting at the YMCA and the nutritionist asked if you ever saw a skinny person eating quickly. It takes 20 minutes for your tummy to register to your brain how full you are. I need constand reminders in this area. And it will take a lot to change my habits. I'm with you all the way!
ReplyDeleteHey Chris....Seriously, I've done a buncha different weight loss programs, but eventually gained the weight back and didn't really feel healthy. When I went to Prism, I got a God-centered eating program that gave me accountability and helped me to learn what true healthy eating is. It's hard, for sure. But, it works. I've been off the bandwagon for some time now, but one day when I'm ready i know it's the only thing that will help me lose weight again. So, that's my suggestions. We'll be praying for you! Mickey
ReplyDeleteI thought comments from this blog would go to my G-Mail inbox...need to check that!
ReplyDelete@John and Tammy - Thanks so Much! :)
@Sandi - Yeah...I hear you on eating slower. I've noticed that if I have small portions, and I want to really savor what I'm eating, I HAVE to eat slower, otherwise, it's gone REALLY quick! :)
@Mickey- I've thought about Prism, I just don't have time for another meeting. But, I so agree with you. That's what 180 is all about.
